Setting up profitability reporting

This is a seriously complex dashboard, and for it to work, we need syncro to be configured in a certain way. Here’s how it works:

Prerequisites:

  1. Contracts need to be setup in syncro for your contract clients
  2. Contract charges need to be linked with a syncro product
  3. We need a list of the syncro product ID’s which are contracts
  4. The cost and sell price of your “Labor” products need to be set accurately

Setup

Contract Setup

  1. Setup a recurring schedule for your customer
  2. Add a line item that links to a product in syncro (the name column should be a blue link)
Note: You can have several different contract products across your clients, but they must be linked to a product.

Setup your product ID’s in techrodactyl

  1. Login to your Techrodactyl account (https://yourdomain.techrodactyl.io)
  2. Head over to the settings page and find the “Profitability Report Settings” section
  3. Mark all the products which are IT contracts and give these items a weight
    • Item weight refers to the labour percentage associated with that product. For example.
You charge $100 per computer per month. 50% of that charge is allocated for labour, the other amount might cover antivirus, email licenses etc.
If you do more than $50 of labor on that computer, you lose money, so we must give that product a weight. The weight for the above example would be 0.5

Check your labour cost

  1. Head over to your products in syncro and change your filters to show products in the labor category.
  2. Ensure the cost price of your labor is accurate. If you haven’t worked this out, you may need to speak with your accountant or tax professional. Alternatively, reach out to us, and we can help you work out this number.
